My Novel Wishlist

WANTED: A life-changing book. One I will read for years and continue to be touched by. One where I will feel the emotions of the protagonist and lose myself within the story and setting. Where the dialogue I read I will stand up and shout, "That's me! I believe this! I know this!" Where I will laugh so hard, I roll on the ground and my face hurts.

Being unemployed is a blessing in disguise. I've been spending weeks at Barnes and Noble, quietly reading the shelves. Since today marks my one month anniversary of being both unemployed and a college graduate, I'd thought I'd reward myself with some reading that isn't for school.

Here are the books I want (I've already read several pages of most and love them!):

Any other suggestions, send them this way!

Love to you all,
Heather

I love reading books that really make me sit down & look at my life & then shows me a whole new light. One such book I read was "The Poisonwood Bible" by Barbara Kingsolver. Its about 4 sister who journey to Africa to discover themselves. It's a beautiful book that touches the heart. I recommend it!

I've never read any of these. I will definitely look into it!

I love your new layout btw dear.

New blog look is gorgeous, girl! And I know it's so over-recommended these days it's downright trite, but when I read "Eat Pray Love" I felt so many of the same things that the author felt and wrote about. If you haven't read it already, I think it's a great read :)

LOVING the new header :)

I think you might try History of Love by Nicole Krauss if you haven't read it. It is by Jonathan Safran Foer's wife and I loved it.

Sadly, at the age of 15, I do not think I'm qualified to suggest life-changing books, though I have stumbled upon a few that have influenced me greatly. (For instance, Star Girl, by Jerry Spinelli.)

Please e-mail me a short bio (less than five sentences please) to include in an introductory entry for the collab blog at technicoloreyes.kodachromelies@gmail.com. Also in that e-mail you can share with me any questions, comments or concerns you may have.

Thank you!

I love both 'I Know This Much Is True' and 'The Glass Castle.' I also recommend 'The Hour I First Believed' by Wally Lamb and 'Veronika Decides to Die' by Paulo Coelho. And if you haven't read 'The Alchemist' by Paulo Coelho, I highly recommend that as well.

you should read "brida" by paulo coelho.it's worth to read it. the next one I'm going to read is "living out loud" by keri smith. can't wait till I'm holding it in my hands...and I'll read some of the books you want.

Those all look great. Have always meant to brush up on my Wally Lamb.

Have you ever read Curtis Sittenfeld's Prep? It's really good.

I'm rereading one of my old faves--Domnick Dunne's the Two Mrs. Grenvilles. Very good book.

GLASS CASTLE GLASS CASTLE GLASS CASTLE.
Dude. It's the kind of book that sticks with you. That you want to put down because it hurts but you have to keep going because the story means so much to you.

Another good one like that, at least for me, is The Last Summer of Me and You by Ann Brashares. Nothing like the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants...really touching.

Have you read "On Beauty"? I really love that one. Also "Starter for 10" by David Nicholls. Everything by Nick Hornby and Tom Perrotta is great.

^^ Is what I'm reading this summer!

I always love new recommendations too.

I keep meaning to read Jonathan Safran Foer, I have lots of history books on my reading list at the moment though.

Books that changed my life... the last one was I Capture The Castle. Stunning.

I can 100% vouch for The Glass Castle and Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close - both are FANTASTIC. Two other "WOW" books for me are The Hours (by Michael Cunningham) and Veronika Decides to Die (by Paulo Coehlo). The latter had a really huge impact on me and the way I think about a lot of things. I really recommend it. It's fairly quick reading too.

Oh my gosh, I could go on forever, but I won't, I promise! ha

Ok so my absolute favorite favorites are "Redeeming Love" by Francine Rivers and "Les Miserables" by Victor Hugo-- oh my gosh. Seriously so amazing. Also, the "Kite Runner" and "A Thousand Splendid Suns" by Khaled Hosseini, so so good. OH! And also "Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell" by Susana Clark. Ok, I'm done :]
