Don't You Forget About Me...

RIP John Hughes, the man who gave me so many pleasant memories as a freshman in high school when I first started watching all of those genius '80's greats.

But I gotta say, out of all of them it was always Ferris Bueller's Day Off I loved the most. I wanted to be Sloane Peterson, she of the white leather fringe jacket. My Mom had a similar one up in the attic that I highly enjoyed putting on.

I loved Sloane but I'm pretty sure everyone had me in the Jeannie category.

Posing as Abe Froman, "the sausage king of Chicago", Sloane had the ultimate boyfriend in Ferris and his pal Cameron who went along for the ride, grudgingly, in his father's pilfered Ferrari.

Everytime I think about Cameron now, I no longer get that little "when Cameron was in Egypt's land" ditty off the top of my head but rather a conversation I had with my friend Julia about the theory that the relationship between Cameron and Ferris has parallels to Tyler Durden in Fight Club. That is the product of being a college student, kids.

But seriously, I would never be so lucky to land a guy who could rock a leopard vest and get me out of history class. If that ever happened, I'd bust out the white leather fringe jacket and stand with my forehead to the glass at the Sears Tower (which they won't let you do and kept rehashing when I was there 'not to pull a Ferris Bueller').

Cause you know how it is...."Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in awhile, you could miss it."

Love to you all,
Heather

It's so sad. John Hughes really left his mark on the 80s.

That's all kinds of awesome. But c'mon. What's more fun than singing LET MY CAMERON GOOOOOOO? :)

Des, it is very tragic indeed. I find it odd that it wasn't really all that covered on the news...

Sadako, you are definitely right on. That song is all kinds of fun :)
